Company Work Days
We’re always looking to partner with groups large and small! These events are a wonderful opportunity for companies to get involved to support a great cause, build camaraderie within staff culture, and engage employees in team-building projects in a beautiful space. Depending on the size of the group and the activities desired, a donation to the non-profit will support all the necessary supplies and staff to make the event a success. Please reach out to join-us@gardenschoolfoundation.org.
Farmers Market Volunteers
Our free, on campus markets share an average of 9,000 lbs of fresh produce with over 225 school families each month. We rely on volunteers to help transport produce from the Food Forward Produce Pit Stop in Bell to our school market sites, 24th Street and 99th Street. Markets are held on Thursday mornings, and volunteers meet at 7am at Food Forward's Produce Pit Stop, load their cars with boxes of fruits and vegetables, and then drive to the school to share the produce with school families. For more information about volunteering at a Farmers Market, please reach out to us at join-us@gardenschoolfoundation.org.
Open Garden Volunteer Hours
We welcome garden volunteers to our sites during regular weekday school hours. Weekday garden volunteers will work independently with less staff guidance and will help with regular garden maintenance tasks such as weeding, watering, mulching, and more. If you feel comfortable in the garden or have a lot of garden experience, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Please reach out to join-us@gardenschoolfoundation.org if you are interested.
Cooking Demos and Garden Workshops
We love to provide cooking demos or garden workshops during our Community Garden Days. If you have expertise to share and would like to volunteer to lead an educational demonstration, please reach out to join-us@gardenschoolfoundation.org.
Volunteer Testimonials
“While seeking out volunteer opportunities last summer, I discovered the Garden School Foundation and was drawn to the work they were doing. Since then, I have volunteered at their bi-weekly Farmer's Market events as well as the monthly community Garden days. It has been an honor to get to volunteer with such great people who believe in food education, justice and health, and I genuinely look forward to the days I get to help out and be a part of the GSF mission. “ - Guilia Barker, GSF Volunteer since Summer 2022
Excited about urban agriculture and ecology? Believe in equitable education and sustainable food systems? The Garden School Foundation (GSF) is looking for Seed to Table interns to join our team.
Seed to Table is a year-round program of garden-based education for K-5th graders that brings to life concepts taught in the classroom through the process of planting, investigating, and cooking. As a Seed to Table intern you’ll learn the ins and outs of urban, organic gardening and work closely with our Garden Educators to help lead in-depth garden and cooking classes. You’ll gain hands-on experience, from guiding your own group of students through a healthy recipe or garden lesson, to leading your own after-school club, to learning about fascinating biodynamic gardening techniques like lasagna gardening and vermicompost.
